How to Earn Credit for Presenting a Workshop  

Workshop Presenter - Process for Earning Credits toward ABE Certificate of Performance Renewal

Description

Development and presentation of a high quality, meaningful workshop that has been pre-approved by the applicant’s program and by Nevada’s Leadership Team may be eligible for credit toward ABE Certificate of Performance renewal. Applicants may earn:

  • .75 credits for a workshop lasting at least 3 hours
  • 1.0 credits for a workshop lasting at least 6 hours

Process

  • All workshop presentations must be pre-approved at least one month in advance of the workshop in order to receive credit. Email proposal to Sharyn Yanoshak.
  • Applicant delivers workshop to local program.
  • When workshop is completed, applicant submits self-evaluation and completed attendance sheet to Sharyn Yanoshak, who will send applicant Certificate of Accomplishment which can be used toward renewal of the ABE Certificate of Performance.

Proposal must include:

  1. Title of workshop
  2. Expected workshop date (if available)
  3. Audience (New or experienced teachers? Of ABE, GED, ESL [which levels?], or all students?)
  4. Description including length of workshop and at least 3 objectives of training. Include specific outcomes of training (what participants will walk away with) and follow-up activity (if applicable)
  5. One-paragraph bio of presenter
  6. Any assistance you’d like, e.g., coaching from leadership team, class on how to present, etc.
  7. Program for which you work and your phone number
